Roberts Tunnel East Portal Hydro Upgrades

Gracon replaced the aging electrical and mechanical infrastructure at the Roberts Tunnel East Portal, near Grant, CO. This $10M project includes upgrading the existing electrical systems with three new switchgear units which will transfer electrical power from the rehabilitated turbine generator unit to the electrical grid. Rehabilitation of the turbine generator unit will be completed to revitalize the unit’s generating capacity and ensure reliable performance for years to come. Improvements will also be made to the existing mechanical systems such as penstock piping, valve actuators, cooling piping and HVAC.
